Kia teased a makeover for the XCeed in 2023, but Australia won’t get it

Kia has teased the XCeed crossover, but Australian buyers won’t be able to buy the vehicle.

The XCeed is a crossover version of the standard Ceed that is only sold in the European market. The standard Ceed was first made popular on Top Gear as the Reasonably-Priced Car. The redesign will bring the high-riding hatch into line with its conventional relative.

For the first time in the history of the vehicle, Kia will add its GT-Line name to the top grade, in keeping with its other model lines.

Two electrified engines will be available for the powertrain, with buyers able to choose between a 48-volt mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) – the latter of which is based on the upcoming Niro PHEV.

Unfortunately for any eager Australian purchasers, Kia’s local branch has decided not to sell the XCeed here because it doesn’t want it to compete with its Seltos, which will soon undergo an update. The Seltos is a car made in Slovakia.

Despite rumours of a facelift, there won’t be a crossover Kia XCeed in Australia in 2023.

Everything you need to know about Kia XCeed

A Kia Sportage is always a compact crossover. When it is, the XCeed. Actually, it’s a considerably smaller high-riding hatchback than the Sportage. It has been available since the middle of 2019, and on Monday, a mid-cycle upgrade will introduce a GT-Line trim. The XCeed could be able to keep its position as the Ceed with the highest sales with the help of the sporty-appearing element that was missing from the options.

The electric crossover’s volume drops to 291 litres from 426 litres (15 cubic feet) (10.2 cubic feet).

Since the XCeed, like the rest of the Ceed line and the smaller Stonic crossover, only has a FWD option, you’ll need to upgrade to the new Sportage if you require all-wheel drive. A fully-fledged GT appears quite unlikely given that only the Ceed and Proceed have received the sporty treatment.

More Info

Design vocabulary: The 2023 XCeed has a highly stylish exterior and appeals to the urban youth of today. The car gets a redesigned front bumper with new side intakes, a lower main intake, and narrow headlights with triple LED DRLs, as shown in the photographs.

But the brand’s recognisable “tiger nose” grille has remained the same. The lower rear bumper piece is new, and the taillamps have rework, updating the back look as well.

Engines: Because the 2023 Kia XCeed will be an electric car, all of its engines will be accordingly. The 1.0-litre 3-Cyl, 1.4-litre 4-Cyl, and 2.0-litre conventional engines were among the possibilities for the previous-generation models’ engines. There won’t be any carryover, so to speak, to the new model.

The pre-facelift XCeed also came in a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version with a 1.6-liter direct-injection gasoline engine and a 60 PS e-motor that have an 8.9 kWh battery pack.

We won’t learn more about the updated crossover until July 18, but the infotainment and safety systems are also expected to undergo improvements.
